On July 4, the Sumy community declared a day of mourning for those killed in the Russian airstrike.
Acting Mayor Artem Kobzar announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“In light of the tragedy caused by the Russian strike on an apartment building in downtown Sumy, July 4 has been declared a day of mourning in the Sumy City Territorial Community,” the message reads.
Kobzar noted that four people, including a child, were killed in the attack.
The official expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
As previously reported, on the evening of July 3, Russia struck one of the central streets of Sumy. At least three people were reported killed; later, another person, seriously wounded in the Russian airstrike, died in the hospital. A child is among the victims.
More than 30 people were injured. According to the Regional Military Administration, 20 people were hospitalized, half of them with serious injuries.
