A suspected terrorist attempted to stab an Israel Police officer in Lod, central Israel, on Wednesday morning, police confirmed.
According to the police, during routine operations in the city, officers spotted the suspect holding a knife and called for him to stop.
The suspected terrorist instead began running towards the officers and attempted to stab one of them.
The suspect was shot in the chest and killed, while the police officer, who was part of the Israel Police's Special Patrol Unit (YASAM), was not injured.
The police stated that the background and causes of the incident are still under investigation.
