Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said villages in southern Lebanon should be cleared to create what he described as a “sterile zone” along the border.
Speaking to Israeli channel i24 News, Lapid said it “may be unpleasant to scrape away two or three Lebanese villages,” but argued the measure was necessary.
Lapid compared the proposed buffer zone to the so-called “Yellow Line” in Gaza, which separates Israeli forces from Palestinian areas.
