Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi held a meeting with Lieutenant General Curtis Bazzard, commander of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) and the Security Assistance Group – Ukraine (SAG-U).
According to Ukrinform, Syrskyi announced this on Facebook.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi briefed Bazzard on the current operational situation at the front.
“We must take the strategic initiative, so we are conducting an active defense. This allows us to wear down the enemy, regain positions, and inflict maximum losses. The main goal is to make every step the enemy takes as costly as possible, using intelligence and technology where there is a shortage of equipment and personnel,” Syrskyi noted.
The parties paid special attention to the current needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Syrskyi emphasized that strengthening air defense remains a priority, as it is impossible to guarantee security on the ground without control of the skies.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine thanked Bazzard for his unwavering support of Ukraine, his leadership, and his significant contribution to strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces. He also presented the Lieutenant General with the honorary Steel Cross award.
“Strengthening the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian troops is an effective tool for deterring the aggressor, saving the lives of our citizens, and bringing about a just peace,” Syrskyi emphasized.
As reported by Ukrinform, Syrskyi discussed the situation on the front lines with the Chief of the Defense Staff of the British Armed Forces, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton.
