Details: A convoy of 12 ambulances left Helsinki for Ukraine. The vehicles had previously been used by Finnish medical services and were handed over in fully operational condition after necessary repairs and the installation of equipment.

The initiative was organised by the Lions Club charity organisation, which has been coordinating such assistance since 2024. Around 500 Lions clubs from across Finland took part in the project. The total amount raised through donations has reached approximately €500,000. Contributors were also made by the Pro patria Suomi-Ukraine Ry association and the Dobrobut Foundation.

During March, the convoy will reach Kyiv via Baltic states and Poland accompanied by Lions volunteers, after which the ambulances will be handed directly to end users.

The ambulances will be used mainly in frontline areas – in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Kharkiv oblasts, and near the city of Pavlohrad.

The organisation delivered 16 ambulances to Ukraine in two previous convoys.

Representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Finland also took part in the dispatch ceremony.

"We are grateful to the organisers of the project, coordinators, drivers, partners and participants, everyone – from Åland Islands to Lapland – who contributed to the project," the Ukrainian embassy noted.

Previously: At the beginning of the year, Latvia announced that it had delivered 21 vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine. Over 2024, more than 600 such vehicles were transferred.
