The IDF Alpinist Unit conducted a cross-border operation from Syria to Lebanon aimed at thwarting terrorist attempts to gain a foothold in the area, the IDF announced on Sunday.

Under the command of the 810th Brigade, the 210th Division's Alpinist Unit operated in complex mountainous terrain, crossing on foot through deep snow from the Syrian Hermon to the Mount Dov area in southern Lebanon to scan the area, gather intelligence, and locate enemy terrorist infrastructure, using the specialized capabilities of the mountain commando unit.

The statement noted that this is the first time the IDF has documented such an operation.

IDF kills Hezbollah terrorist who worked as journalist

The IDF killed a Radwan Force terrorist who also worked for Lebanese news outlet Al Manar, controlled by the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah, in an airstrike on Saturday morning.

Radwan Force terrorist Ali Hassan Shaib used his position as a journalist to expose IDF positions in southern Lebanon and along the border, the IDF said.

Shaib maintained contact with terrorists within the Radwan Force and across the broader Hezbollah terrorist organization, said the IDF.
