Ukraine strikes Russian Roscosmos-linked research institute in Penza region

Ukrainian forces have struck a major Russian enterprise in the Penza region that is linked to the country's space, aviation, and military instrumentation industries.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported this on Facebook.

On the night of June 30 to July 1, Ukrainian forces targeted JSC Research Institute of Physical Measurements in Russia's Penza region.

The General Staff reported confirmed hits and smoke at the site.

The institute is a leading Russian enterprise in space, aviation, and military instrumentation. It is part of the Russian Space Systems, a holding that belongs to the state corporation Roscosmos. It produces sensors for cruise and ballistic missiles such as Iskander, Kalibr, and Kh-101, components for aircraft systems including Su-34, Su-35, and Tu-95MS, as well as equipment for military space systems, including reconnaissance satellites.

Damage assessments are still ongoing.

In addition, Ukrainian forces struck several Russian logistics and infrastructure targets, including a road bridge over the Malyi Kalchyk River near Hranitne in the Donetsk region, a railway bridge over the Tepla River near Nyzhnioteple in the Luhansk region, and a logistics crossing near Novoocheretuvate in the Donetsk region.

These facilities were used by Russian forces to transport personnel, weapons, ammunition, and materiel.

Ukrainian forces also hit a fuel and lubricants depot in Melitopol and three logistical storage sites in Russia's Kursk region and in occupied areas of the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.

Additionally, five Russian UAV command posts were struck in occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions.

As was reported earlier, on June 29-30, Ukrainian forces also struck key bridges in occupied Zaporizhzhia region and Crimea, as well as other Russian military infrastructure.
