Russian troops are not changing their air attack tactics and are launching hundreds of strike drones on Ukraine almost every night, while air defense forces intercepted 161 out of 199 targets last night.
This was reported on television by Yurii Ihnat, head of the communications department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
"Unfortunately, the tactics remain unchanged. The enemy attacks with hundreds, or even more than two hundred, virtually every night. We saw the same attack today, there were two ballistic missiles in the Odesa region, and the epicenter of today's attack by strike UAVs was the Poltava region. A lot of drones were sent to this area," Ihnat said.
According to him, massive drone attacks happen almost every day, and only a few days last year passed without drone strikes. The enemy also attacks frontline regions, which makes it harder to intercept them.
"That is, whether the attack was carried out by a few UAVs or hundreds, today we have the following combat results: 161 targets were intercepted out of 199. The enemy is striking frontline regions with strike UAVs, which makes it difficult to intercept them when they go further, into the interior of the country, it is possible to use more of the forces and means that we have today: mobile fire groups and interceptor drones, among other things, which are currently being used most actively," he said.
Ihnat added that interceptor drones showed pretty good results last night, but the effectiveness of air defense also depends on a bunch of factors, like weather conditions. If the attacks are aimed at frontline regions, the percentage of interceptions might be lower.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Air Defense Forces destroyed 161 of the 197 drones used by the Russian army to attack Ukraine since the evening of March 8.
