Terma and MBDA Join Forces to Strengthen Europe’s Defense Capabilities

The partnership brings together MBDA, a global leader in complex weapon systems, and Terma, Denmark’s largest defense company, in strengthening European resilience and industrial base. The importance of the deal was underlined by the attendance of French Minister Delegate for Industry Sébastien Martin and Danish Minister of Business and Competitiveness Martin Lidegaard. The deal is expected to generate new defense solutions, strengthen Danish industry, and support future export growth for both companies.

Terma press release

The agreement, signed at Eurosatory by Terma CEO Henriette Hallberg Thygesen and MBDA CEO Eric Béranger in the presence of Denmark’s Minister for Business and Competitiveness, Martin Lidegaard and French Minister Delegate for Industry Sébastien Martin builds on a longstanding partnership between the two companies.

The cooperation goes beyond traditional industrial participation and includes joint development activities in the naval domain. The agreement also creates significant export potential and will enable Terma and MBDA to develop new solutions that help allies strengthen their air defense capabilities and maritime security.

A significant step in the European direction

The agreement represents a significant step in Terma’s continued growth as a leading European defense company and creates new opportunities to develop advanced solutions together with one of Europe’s foremost defense industry players. It also provides access to new international opportunities through MBDA’s global market presence and customer base.

“By combining MBDA’s world-class missile expertise with Terma’s advanced maritime systems capabilities, we are strengthening both Danish and European defense. This partnership builds on a strong and trusted relationship and allows us to develop new solutions together, expand our export opportunities, and further strengthen the competencies that are critical to Europe’s future security.” says Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, CEO of Terma.

“This agreement marks the first step of a long-term cooperation with Terma and the Danish industry. It reflects on MBDA’s DNA of cooperation to develop innovative solutions meeting the needs of the armed forces and strengthening our European defence capabilities. It also reinforces our partnership with Denmark, after the selection of our sovereign air defence systems to protect its skies.” says Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA.

Significant activity across Terma’s locations

The deal represents significant development, integration, and production activities that will be carried out in Denmark across Terma’s locations in Lystrup, Søborg, and Grenaa, as well as among relevant Danish industrial partners. The agreement will strengthen Danish defense industry competencies while supporting highly specialized jobs and long-term industrial development.

The partnership demonstrates how strong international industrial cooperation can support both economic growth and defense capability development. It also highlights the importance of ensuring that Danish companies play an active role in developing and delivering critical capabilities for allied nations.

By bringing together MBDA’s missile expertise and Terma’s maritime systems competencies, the cooperation contributes to a stronger and more integrated European Defence Technological and Industrial Base.
